Commissioned Research
I conduct full archival research for you
Commissioned archival research is offered to individuals who prefer to entrust the research process to a professional with 20 years of experience.
This service is intended for those who:
– do not have time to conduct archival research independently,
– feel overwhelmed by Polish archival systems,
– are working with fragmentary or complex family histories,
– prefer a structured, documented research process conducted on their behalf.
Research focuses on Jewish families from Łódź and is based on materials preserved in the State Archives in Łódź and related archival collections.
If you would like to commission research, please contact:
info@jewishlodz.com
How it works
Fee: €60 per hour (minimum order: 3 hours)
Estimated cost is provided before research begins.
Fees cover research time, not specific results.
How Time Is Calculated
Archival research is billed based on the time dedicated to each individual project.
Time includes:
– searching relevant archival collections and indexes
– reviewing and analysing documents
– cross-referencing information across multiple sources
– interpreting historical and multilingual records
– preparing a written summary of findings
– necessary project-related communication
Research is tracked in working time blocks and calculated in 30-minute increments.
Before research begins, an estimated number of hours is provided based on the available information and scope of inquiry. If additional time is required, you will be contacted for approval before continuing.
Please note:
Archival research does not guarantee specific results.
Fees cover professional research time and analysis, regardless of outcome.
All work is conducted using publicly accessible archival materials and established research practices.
What Commissioned Research Is For
Commissioned research may be particularly helpful if you:
– would like a professional to conduct archival searches on your behalf,
– are looking for multiple documents across different collections,
– wish to reconstruct a broader family context rather than locate a single record,
– need assistance connecting dispersed archival traces,
– want structured findings presented clearly in English or Spanish.
What the Service May Include
Depending on the case, research may include:
– identity card applications
– residence registration cards
– Jewish community voter lists
– contribution lists
– cemetery records
– civil records (birth, marriage, death)
– wartime documentation
– building or property-related records
The scope depends on record survival and archival accessibility.
