The guidance service is intended for researchers who wish to proceed beyond the indexes and require assistance with locating and understanding specific archival documents related to Jewish genealogy in Lodz. While the indexes indicate whether a person appears within a given archival collection, guidance provides the next step by directing researchers to the exact archival record and explaining its basic content.

Why Request Guidance
Archival collections are often extensive and complex. Even when a document is available online, locating the correct record and understanding its content may require considerable time.
Guidance allows researchers to:

access the correct archival record without uncertainty,

understand the essential content of Polish-language documents,

proceed with confidence before taking further research steps.​

What the Guidance Service Provides
Each guidance request includes:

a direct link to the relevant archival document, where publicly accessible online or a copy of the document for reference.

translation of basic information from the Polish record, including names, dates, places, and document type.
If you wish to receive a full translation of the document, it is available upon request. Archival documents themselves are not reproduced or sold.

Transparency
JewishLodz does not sell archival documents and is not affiliated with any archive.
All guidance is based exclusively on publicly accessible archival materials held by Polish archival institutions.

After the request is received, a confirmation email is sent outlining the scope of the guidance and including a payment link. Payment is requested after confirmation of availability. Fee: 30€ per document ​ Payment is accepted via PayPal.

Once payment is received, you receive precise information /link to the corresponding archival document. Where applicable, basic information contained in Polish-language records may be explained to support further independent research.
